Melissa Simeone — Founder & Lead Private Tutor
Melissa is the founder of Private Tutor Mel and has dedicated her work to helping students become more confident, capable, and independent learners.
With a strong passion for education and a personalized approach to tutoring, Melissa believes that academic success is about more than simply getting the right answer. It’s about understanding the material, learning how to approach challenges, and building the confidence to believe in yourself.
Melissa has been tutoring since 2010, bringing over 15 years of experience working with students of various ages, learning styles, and academic needs. Over the years, she has gained experience in both private tutoring and established educational settings, including Kumon and the English Montreal School Board (EMSB).
Through her tutoring experience, Melissa has worked with students across elementary and high school levels, supporting them in subjects including Math, Science, French, English, History, and Geography, as well as exam preparation.
What sets Melissa’s approach apart is the importance she places on getting to know each student. She takes the time to understand how they learn, where they struggle, and what they need to feel successful. Her sessions are structured, engaging, and adapted to the individual—not based on a one-size-fits-all approach.
For Melissa, the most rewarding part of tutoring is seeing the moment when a student goes from “I can’t do this” to “I understand it!”
That change in confidence is at the heart of everything she does.

Each member of our team brings their own strengths and personality, but we all share the same goal: to help students learn, grow, and feel confident in their abilities.
